Homeless on Public Land Steering Committee

REACH Edmonton is a member of the Homeless on Public Land Steering Committee. This initiative is a program intended to addressed the social, housing, safety and environmental impacts of homeless encampments on City of Edmonton public land.

The program strives to:

  • Support individuals experiencing homelessness encountered on city public land and get them on the path towards safe housing using the Housing First principle
  • Make a positive difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Reduce the number of encampments and clean up debris left behind
  • Increase the enjoyment and safety for all park users

Publications:

The City of Edmonton, Boyle Street Community Services, Homeward Trust Edmonton and REACH Edmonton partnered to create who-to-call reference guides to assist Edmontonians in connecting with the appropriate non-emergency service when they engage with vulnerable people.
