REACH Edmonton kicks off National Crime Prevention Month celebrations

REACH Edmonton Executive Director Jan Fox is proud to share the City of Edmonton's proclamation of November as National Crime Prevention and Community Safety month. The proclamation was requested by REACH Edmonton who will be marking the month with a number of activities including an information fair at City Centre Mall and a social media campaign to share crime prevention resources. "During the month of November we will be taking a focused and unique approach to sharing information about crime prevention. We also look forward to showcasing the work that REACH Edmonton does all year round, promoting safe communities and crime prevention across the city," said REACH Edmonton Executive Director, Jan Fox. November 29 and 30, REACH Edmonton will be set up at City Centre Mall, sharing information and resources on crime prevention and community safety and providing a demonstration of the new REACH Edmonton website. Visitors to the information fair will also have a chance to enter a draw for prizes. REACH Edmonton will also be taking its crime prevention message to cyberspace with a Crime Prevention and Community Safety Month social media campaign. Using the new and expansive online resource library at, topical information will be shared every week-day of November. These resources will be selected to mark Family Violence, National Seniors Safety Week, Bullying Awareness Week, National Addictions Awareness Week, Restorative Justice Week and National Home Fire Safety Week. Links to topical resources will be shared each business day through REACH Edmonton Twitter and Facebook accounts. Twitter posts related to the campaign will be marked with the hashtag #REACHcpm. REACH Edmonton will also be wrapping up its first round of Ward-specific Community Conversations at the end of the month and is looking forward to sharing its findings with the public and taking follow-up actions in the coming months.
