REACH is Recruiting Community Champions

JOIN US! – REACH Edmonton, in partnership with the Edmonton Police Service and the City of Edmonton, is organizing a series of public engagement sessions to recruit community champions who want to work to make their community a safer place to live, work and play. At ward-specific Community Safety Conversations, citizens are engaging in discussions about safety and crime prevention, while sharing ideas and seeking out solutions. These sessions are connecting citizens and community leaders from across the ward, enabling them to exchange stories, share ideas and discuss challenges. “Each event will begin the process of facilitating training for community leaders to help them organize more effectively and increase the safety of their communities,” said REACH Executive Director Jan Fox. Successful and productive Community Safety Conversations have already been held in wards 7 and 8 earlier this year. Sessions being held from September through November are connecting community leaders within the remaining ten city wards. REACH is a community-based coordinating council that is working to make Edmonton a safer city. REACH works with organizations, agencies, community groups and individual Edmontonians; bringing them together to realize their innovative ideas for crime prevention.
