Schools as Community Hubs (SACH)
Schools as Community Hubs (SACH) was a five-year pilot project that took place between 2010-2015.
This initiative targeted children, youth and their families within communities where there were high concentrations of immigrant, refugee or Indigenous families, and high or increasing crime rates.
SACH initiatives were evaluated using Social Return on Investment (SROI).
2013 SROI analysis showed:
- For every $1 invested in SACH, $4.60 was returned to the community in social added value
- $7,639,015 was the cost avoided from not completing high school
- $4,344,405 was the total increase in parental income
Schools as Community Hubs is now part of the All in for Youth initiative.
