Winter Emergency Response
Homeward Trust Edmonton has implemented the Winter Emergency Response program since 2008 in order to address the added challenges and safety issues inherent to homeless individuals due to Edmonton's harsh winter weather.
The key component of the Winter Emergency Response program is the provision of additional funding to several of the city's drop-in centres in order to extend hours and ensure there are safe places to go when emergency shelters are closed.
The Winter Emergency Response program acts as an access point for people at risk of harm due to the harsh weather and facility linkages to housing and support services.
REACH sits on the steering committee and working group; 24/7 Crisis Diversion sits on the transportation sub-committee.
