KEMI KUFUOR-BOAKYE

REACH Advisor

Kemi Kufuor-Boakye is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and holds the designations of Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. She currently serves as the Senior Financial Officer for the University of Alberta Library and Museums. In that role, she is responsible for managing the budget and the associated financial processes.

Kemi develops and supports the budget planning process and then takes responsibility for management, including forecasting and adjustments, throughout the fiscal year. She has vastly improved the budget development and management process by spotting gaps and weaknesses, and through introducing strategic forecasting and providing budget updates to stakeholders and budget owners. Her promotion of clear processes and stated accountabilities have resulted in much more understanding and confidence in management of financial processes and controls, as well as overall organizational performance.

Kemi was the inaugural co-chair of the University of Alberta Library’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee from 2017-2019. A key focus of the Committee during that time period was EDI training for all staff in the Library, as well as a review of EDI related practices and needs within all the various departments. This work served as a foundation that continues to be built on today as EDI continues to be one of the Library’s strategic priorities.

Kemi is currently a member of the Junior League of Edmonton where she served as the General Secretary on the Board from 2017-2019. Kemi is also a current member of the Finance and Audit Committee for both the YWCA of Edmonton as well as the Canadian Research Knowledge Network.
Kemi is passionate about community service and recognizes the importance of representation and her role as an immigrant black woman in the community. Kemi believes that to truly embody and effectively govern inclusion, community boards should reflect the diversity of the community in which it serves.
