NICKOLAS ZAZULA

REACH Board Member

Nickolas Zazula is a graduate student at the University of Alberta, currently residing within Amiskwaciy Waskahikan (Edmonton) on Treaty 6 Territory, pursuing a master’s degree in Urban Planning. He is particularly interested in how settlement patterns and a city’s-built form contribute to social vulnerabilities, community building, and adaptive capacity to change. Nickolas holds a Bachelor of Science in Environment from McGill University and is an Alumni of the United World College program, receiving the Grant MacEwan United World College Scholarship in 2015. He hopes to apply his knowledge of Environmental Sciences and Urban Planning to build more equitable and climate-resilient cities for current and future generations to enjoy.

Nickolas joined the REACH Board in 2020 as a delegate from Youth @ the Table Program. He greatly benefited from gaining experience with non-profit governance and the mentorship of the other board members. He is honoured to continue with the board for another term, advocating for the youth perspective in decision-making.

In his free time, Nickolas is an avid outdoor explorer, particularly interested in long-distance backpacking and sport climbing. He also loves to cook, support local theatre, and spend time with his partner and their dog.
