John StelterJohn graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1988 and joined KPMG LLP in Edmonton the same year. He earned his CPA, CA (Alberta) in 1991 and was honored as a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta in 2018.John retired as an audit partner from KPMG LLP in Edmonton in late 2022, where he served not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, universities, charities, pension funds, indigenous organizations and private and public companies throughout Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. He was a senior leader of KPMG’s Public Sector audit practice group in Edmonton and KPMG’s Indigenous Client Services Practice in Western Canada for many years. John also served as audit learning leader for KPMG Edmonton’s partners, management and staff. Currently, John is a member of the Board of Governors, the Finance, Property and Investment Committee and he chairs the Audit and Risk Committee of MacEwan University. In addition, he is a member of the APEX Governance Board and the Audit and Finance Committee for Alberta Municipalities. He is also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta Bylaw & Rules Committee. Previously, he was a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee and Board Vice Chair of the CPA Western School of Business and the CA School of Business.In his retirement, John enjoys golfing, traveling and spending time with his wife Lois and their 3 cats.
