Understanding PTSD, Trauma and Supporting Resilience in Affected Newcomers

This workshop will focus on giving a better understanding of trauma and post-traumatic stress and challenges that immigrant and refugee families and youth face as they settle in Canada. Participants will learn simple strategies to work with newcomer families and to support their resilience and integration. Areas of discussion will include trauma, post traumatic impact, resilience, and resources for immigrants.
Participants will:
- Learn how trauma effects the nervous systems.
- Gain skills to work with people affected by trauma.
- Learn simple strategies to work cross-culturally with refugee families and youth.
