ETHNOCULTURAL FAMILY VIOLENCE COMMITTEE

A collaborative of a community of agencies, EFVC provides education and advocacy for family violence prevention in a cultural context. The committee aligned with Community Initiatives Against Family Violence (CIAFV) in 2016 and collaborates to provide culturally appropriate family violence education for service organizations.

 

INITIATIVE GOALS

As part of REACH Edmonton’s Immigrant & Refugee Initiatives (RIRI Building Healthy Families) is a partner in EFVC.

  • The Education subcommittee is working towards a collaborative culturally appropriate family violence training for service organizations.
  • Influencing Change subcommittee is working towards system change because of the Gap Analysis Report completed in 2018.

 

OUTCOMES

  • Increased knowledge and understanding of newcomer, immigrant and refugee communities and service providers; including Edmonton Police Service, Children Services and others who serve these target populations.

  • Increase knowledge and support to newcomer, immigrant and refugee communities of family violence.
