DEBRA JAKUBEC
Neighbourhood Organizing Program Coordinator
I’m thrilled to be part of REACH’s Neighbourhood Organizing Initiative, where I work alongside community members to encourage and support grassroots neighbourhood efforts that improve community safety and wellbeing.
I’m passionate about building strong, neighbour-to-neighbour relationships and creating the conditions for social cohesion to thrive. With a background in anthropology and education, I bring experience from the non-profit world and my previous work in community development with the City of Edmonton. I’m especially rooted in the principles of Asset-Based Community Development and firmly believe that meaningful change begins with the strengths and leadership found within communities themselves.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me with my hands in the soil or nose in a good book—gardening and reading are my go-to pastimes.
