REACH TRAINING
REACH Training is a collection of community expert-driven workshops that aim to equip frontline workers with the knowledge and skills to respond to some of the more emerging yet complex needs of their clients.
INITIATIVE IMPACT
In 2020 as a result of COVID-19, REACH training provided “Psychological First Aid” virtually, that was free to over 600 frontline workers to support them as a result of the enormous demands being placed on them during the pandemic
Since 2014 REACH Training has backboned Trauma Informed Edmonton, a collective of local agencies and services (EPS, City of Edmonton, Homeward Trust, Native Counseling Services, CMHA, Boyle McCauley Health Centre) who have provided trauma training & conferences
Using the expertise in the community, REACH Training supports local facilitators to develop and launch training offerings including:
• Historical Trauma & Aboriginal Client Services
• 60's Scoop Mapping Exercise
• Supporting Muslim Clients
• Supporting Resilience Newcomers
• Self Care as Trauma Informed Practice
• Unpacking Hate Crimes
• Gang Awareness
• Training for people with Lived Experience
• Shades of self-disclosure
• Building Better Boundaries
• Building Inclusive Workplaces and Practices
• Understanding and Mitigating Bias
• Kairos Blanket Exercises
OUTCOMES
“The demands of our frontline workers are increasing and ever changing, social issues are becoming more and more complex and we need frontline workers who are equipped to address them and stay up to date on leading practices and information.”
